Leave of Absence

Sometimes life requires you to step away from work to care for yourself or a loved one. TerrAscend's Leaves Team is here to ensure your leave is handled smoothly and confidentially.

When to Contact the Leaves Team

Reach out any time you need to take time off for:

  • Your own serious health condition

  • Care of a spouse, domestic partner, child, or parent with a serious health condition

  • Birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child

  • Pregnancy or related medical needs

  • Care for an injured servicemember

  • Military service or qualified exigency related to a family member’s active duty

  • Civic volunteer service

  • Hospitalization, incapacity over three days, or ongoing medical treatment (for you or a family member)

How to Report a Leave

You can submit your leave request by contacting the Leaves Team directly at leaves@terrascend.com. The Leaves Team will provide next steps with AbsenceResources®, who helps manage and track all leaves of absence. AbsenceResources handles leave intake, medical documentation, and status updates through its secure online tools.

Be ready to provide:

  • Company name and employee ID

  • Reason and estimated dates for leave

  • Health care provider contact info

  • If caring for a family member: their name, relationship, and date of birth (if a child)

What to Expect

  1. Submit Your Leave – Contact the Leaves Team to report your leave request or ask any initial questions. They will provide next steps with AbsenceResources® to get you started on your intake and review of eligibility.

  2. Provide Documentation – Work with your health care provider to complete and return any required medical certification within 15 days.

  3. Review & Decision – Once all documentation is received, AbsenceResources will review your case and issue a decision (typically within 5 business days).

  4. Stay Updated – You’ll receive updates from the Leaves Team and AbsenceResources throughout the process.

Your Rights & Job Protection

Eligible employees may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

  • Health coverage under your group plan continues during approved leave (you remain responsible for your portion of premiums).

  • When you return, you’ll be reinstated to your same or an equivalent position with the same pay, benefits, and terms.

  • In some cases, up to 26 weeks of leave may be available to care for an injured servicemember.
